It is also important to find the right fabric for your prom dress or prom gown that sits well on your body. Fabrics such as lace, organza, taffeta, satin, luxe, crepe boca, peau de soie, silk, and satin can help make your figure look beautiful.

Peau de Soie: A medium to heavy, drapeable fabric with a satin weave and delustered finish. The dull luster is more flattering to most body shapes and sizes than high luster satins. (Dress #P418)

Organza: Similar to Chiffon, but this transparent fabric is heavier with a stiffer feel. It is a crisp, sheer, lightweight plain weave fabric made of silk, rayon, nylon, or polyester. In Prom dresses with an overskirt, organza is a beautiful choice, having just enough body to stand out yet still move nicely (Dresses #P439/p314/p449)

Taffeta: This crisp fabric is generally made from synthetic (or man-made) fibers and has a smooth finish that glimmers when hit by light. (Dress #p207)

Silk: This natural fabric is woven from the fibers of silkworm cocoons. It is soft and elegant, but a strong fabric. Silk is available in different weights as well as a variety of textures and shines such as charmeuse, peau or shantung. (Dress #p419/p414)

Satin: A smooth fabric, as of silk or rayon, woven with a glossy face and a dull back. (p246/p237)
